About ABS Direct:

In January of 1983 entrepreneur/owner Elaine Thomas set off on her first business venture with ABS. Originally located in Merced and named Associated Business Services, ABS provided a variety of services to businesses such as secretarial and resume services, medical transcription services for doctors and hospitals, and temporary help – via a licensed agreement with the Olsten Corporation.

ABS then added a mail processing department called ABS Presort. After steady growth a second office was opened in Modesto in 1986. In order to concentrate all efforts on ABS Presort and Olsten, after two years all other services were dropped. By 1995 ABS Direct had emerged as the stronger business and Olsten was sold. Soon after, ABS Presort was consolidated into a single location in Modesto. ABS now offers a full range of services related to mail processing, statement and mail merge printing, and fulfillment.

In 1998 it was apparent that ABS had outgrown their facilities and was in need of a larger home. By 1999 the dream became a reality and in June the entire operation was moved to brand new, state of the art facilities in North Modesto. ABS now has the ability to serve customers in more ways than ever dreamed possible.

In 2016 we expanded to West Sacramento and added a presorting facility there to help serve the Sacramento region.

  • The turnaround time for your project depends on several factors such as quantity, data, proof approval, and scope of services. Generally you can expect a turnaround time of 3-5 days, but your CSR can provide a more accurate timeline based on your particular project.
    We also offer a Rush service which can push your project through the pipeline very quickly within 1-2 days mailed. Please speak with a CSR to inquire about this service.

  • You can send them to your customer service rep (CSR) via email, CD, thumb drive, or download. You can also upload them via SFTP, just contact your account manager to get login details. For large files over ~100MB you can use our FTP to transfer them to ABS. Your FTP account is linked directly to your File Manager for ease of access, your files will be available to you no matter how you send them to us.

  • Yes! We offer encrypted channels (SFTP) to send your files to us, and any offsite backups are encrypted as well to ensure your data is secure.

  • Absolutely! We have PLENTY of storage! Depending on the amount of material and the length of time that we hold your material – storage fees may or may not apply. Don’t worry though – the fees are nominal and our storage area is on-site, secure and well maintained!

  • ABS does not recommend that our clients pick up their prepared mailings and deliver them to the post office. We prepare each mailing and corresponding postal documents in accordance with USPS regulations and, in most cases, submit them electronically to the post office for efficiency and cost savings. However, if you have a special request, please be sure to speak with your customer service representative.
